Life in the Forest!
What's up? |
Want to have the time of your life? Want to have a boot camp holiday? Want to see some really cool animals and contribute to actual research and the conservation of a threatened species? Then Forest is the project for you.
Monitor Lizard crossing the road - so cool! |
Let me paint the picture of what forest is really like. You will go through 2 sets of clothing during two weeks. You will have bruises and scratches on your legs. You will likely require a nanna nap in the afternoon, but every night you will be dreaming about your day in the forest and every morning you will be dying to get back out there and do it one more time.
Volunteer hard at work |
A typical day entails, commando crawling under brushes, jumping logs, walking along fallen trees and navigating a coral rag mine field. Whilst all still on survey and on the lookout for Colobus monkeys, other mammals, geckos, lizards, snakes and birds. This might sound daunting but by the end of the first week you are addicted to this type of adventure and can’t wait to get back out there on the Monday. No single day in the forest is the same as the previous, there is always something new to see, always something new to laugh at and to put a smile on your face. Forest is a crazy but amazing adventure that will always have you coming back for more.
