Colobus locomotion video

Group of Peter's Angola Black and White Colobus from GVI Kenya on Vimeo.

This group of Angola Black and White Colobus, in the wet season, on the edge of a coastal forest in Shimoni, Kenya seem rather nervous. Although used to human presence the groups behaviour might be affected by our presence or possibly the oncoming storm.
At about [00:30] you can see the characteristic coastal Colobus locomotion often described as 'suicidal'. The individual jumps towards what looks like a dense bit of canopy, in a rather undynamic fashion, while stretching arms and legs the vegetation rather then the body breaks the fall, while the individual tries to hold on to whatever vegetation it can.
