Getting back to School

The start of a new expo and we have hit the floor running! We have another bunch of very enthusiastic volunteers who have settled in so quickly that it is hard to believe they have only been here 2 weeks.

Kindergarten children togheter with GVI volunteers

The school has now started a new term and it was good to see some familiar faces move up the grades. Kindergarten has blossomed into a wonderful group of about 60 children who enjoy the outdoor activities and love to sing the “5 little ducks” song at the top of their voices which can be quite entertaining!

Happy voices!

The first group of 6 volunteers have now spent some time with the children and have also introduced themselves to the teachers to discuss the plans for the coming year. The volunteers have also managed to find time to put the first coat of paint on the walls of Standard 2. There might have been a little distraction from the students but we got there in the end and the room looks so much brighter now.

Painting the classroom and curious guests

For me, it is so rewarding to see the same familiar faces and the wonderful smiles you get from the children. I am looking forward to making a difference again this year and to continue to work with the Mkwiro village and GVI.

Happy New Year everyone.
